Anthony Tilghman Statement on Data Centers at the Landover Mall Site
“I am deeply concerned about proposals that would allow a data center to be built on the former Landover Mall property. This site sits near residential communities, schools, and major traffic corridors. The potential impacts on energy costs, air quality, water usage, and neighborhood safety have not been fully studied or explained to the public.
As a father, Commissioner of District Heights, and candidate for State Delegate in District 25, I believe our community deserves transparency and accountability before any such project moves forward. Families are already struggling with high electric bills as data centers across the region drive up costs on our shared grid. We cannot allow unchecked development that benefits Big Tech while leaving Prince George’s residents footing the bill.
Any data center in Maryland should be held to the highest standards: it must not harm residents’ health, it must include environmental safeguards, and it must bring real economic benefits and jobs to our community—not just profits for corporations. I strongly encourage residents to stay informed and make your voices heard. I am committed to standing with you to ensure that growth in Prince George’s County is fair, responsible, and community-driven.
Together, we can ensure development works for the people—not against them.”
